Privacy

What this site stores, and what it doesn’t.

ArgusTransfer is a documentation site for an open-source library. There are no accounts, no forms, and no tracking pixels beyond an optional, opt-in Google Analytics tag. This page explains what that means in practice under the GDPR.

Data controller

The controller responsible for any personal data processed via this website is:

Sam Gerené
sam@gerene.nl

What we collect, and why

The site itself collects nothing. The only optional processing is Google Analytics 4, and only if you accept it from the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics tags load and no analytics cookies are set.

Google Analytics 4 (opt-in)

With your consent, we load Google’s gtag.js and report aggregate events: which page you visited, approximate location derived from your IP, browser and device type, and referrer. The IP is shortened by Google before storage and is not made available to us. We use this only to understand which docs are read and where to focus future writing.

Cookies set when you accept analytics

If, and only if, you accept the analytics service, the following cookies are set on this domain by Google:

  • _ga — distinguishes browsers, retained 13 months.
  • _ga_1ZZ9W5VBM5 — per-property session state, retained 13 months.

Klaro itself stores a small first-party cookie called klaro to remember your choice for 180 days. This cookie is technically necessary for the consent banner to function and is not used for tracking.

Lawful basis

Analytics is processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR & Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive). You can withdraw it at any time from the consent banner or the button below; withdrawing has no effect on processing that took place before the withdrawal.

Recipients and international transfers

With your consent, analytics data is shared with Google LLC as a processor under Google’s standard Data Processing Terms. Google may transfer data to the United States, where it relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses as the legal basis for transfer.

Retention

Analytics events are retained by Google for 14 months and then deleted automatically. The klaro consent cookie expires after 180 days, after which the banner is shown again so you can renew or change your choice.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

To exercise any of these rights, email sam@gerene.nl. Note that beyond the analytics described above, this site holds no personal data tied to your identity, so most requests amount to confirming that fact.

Manage your preferences

You can revisit your choice at any time:

Server logs

The nginx server that hosts this site writes standard access logs (timestamp, requested path, response code, user agent) for operational purposes. These logs are not linked to analytics and are rotated on a short schedule.

Changes to this notice

If we change what is processed or how, this page will be updated and — if your prior consent no longer covers the new processing — the consent banner will be shown again so you can review.
